What was it like before you came to see us?

I met Aaron at a workshop on Sugar Cravings (which I had a problem with). While I didn’t have a diagnosis of anything serious, I knew it was just a matter of time. I was very over-weight (morbidly obese), I had joint pain, especially in my knees and a lot of problems with my feet. I also had digestive issues, bloating, constipation, just feeling so badly all the time that I didn’t even realize it wasn’t “normal” not to feel that way. I was also exhausted ALL of the time- I would consume sugar (in my tea, or in the form of donuts, etc.) to get through the morning, more sugar to get through the afternoon (more tea, and a candy bar- or two). The symptoms were too vague to see a medical doctor and expect any response other than “lose weight”- which is easier said than done. It’s hard to commit to an exercise program when you feel bad, your knees and feet hurt, and you have absolutely NO energy.

How is it now?

I feel so much better- I hardly recognize the “me” from before. My knees and feet are so much better; I can’t use them as an excuse not to walk! My digestive issues are also so improved I would never want to go back to feeling as bad as I used to. I’ve eliminated sugar from my diet (which before I saw Aaron, I wouldn’t have thought possible) I thought giving up sugar would be worse than quitting smoking, but Aaron and Joanne were wonderful about doing it gently and giving great suggestions for substitutions that it really wasn’t that difficult. But the improvement I appreciate the most is the energy I have- I feel so much more alive and energetic and ready to tackle whatever the day has to offer. I am exercising more, eating healthier, and much more energetic than ever! I’ve lost over 20lbs. I’ve started taking classes to get my degree. I am grateful to Aaron and his team for the guidance and support throughout this process, and look forward to continuing on the path to a better, healthier me!
